YB Datuk Mohamad Alamin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia will undertake a working visit to The Hague, the Netherlands from 15 to 16 February 2023. This is the maiden working visit abroad by YB Datuk Mohamad Alamin since his appointment as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs on 9 December 2022.
During the visit, YB Deputy Minister will be representing YB Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Ministerial Segment of the Summit on Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Military Domain (REAIM 2023) at The World Forum Convention Centre in The Hague.
The Government of the Netherlands will be co-hosting REAIM 2023 with the Government of the Republic of Korea. The conference will provide a platform for various stakeholders including States such as Malaysia to discuss and share their views on issues pertaining to the applications of AI in the military realm.
At the sidelines of REAIM 2023, YB Deputy Minister is also expected to have an engagement with H.E. Paul Huijts, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. Additionally, he is scheduled to meet officials from the Embassy of Malaysia as well as the Malaysian diaspora in The Hague.
YB Deputy Foreign Minister’s visit to the Netherlands will provide an excellent opportunity for Malaysia to further strengthen its long-standing bilateral relations with the Netherlands as well as to explore new areas of cooperation of mutual interests.
In 2022, the Netherlands was Malaysia’s 14th largest trading partner and the second largest trading partner within the European Union (EU). The total trade with the Netherlands amounted to RM48.04 billion (USD10.93 billion), an increase of 33.4% compared to 2021.
