WORKING VISIT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA TO

MALAYSIA 9 JANUARY 2025 

 

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto will undertake a working visit to Malaysia on 9 January 2025. This is President Prabowo Subianto’s first working visit to Malaysia since assuming office in October 2024.

The visit reflects the special relationship between Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia, underpinned by robust cooperation across various fields, including economic, socio-cultural, defence and security.

During his visit, President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Both leaders are expected to discuss bilateral cooperation and explore potential areas for greater collaboration. The Prime Minister will also host a private lunch in honour of President Prabowo Subianto.

With Malaysia assuming the role of ASEAN Chairman this year, both leaders are expected to exchange views on strengthening ASEAN Community Building, regional cooperation and addressing common global challenges.

In 2023, the Republic of Indonesia ranked as Malaysia’s seventh-largest trading partner globally and third-largest among ASEAN member states, with total trade of RM111.21 billion (USD24.39 billion). Between January and October 2024, bilateral trade was valued at RM95.50 billion (USD20.75 billion), compared with RM94.37 billion (USD20.69 billion) for the corresponding period in 2023.
