OFFICIAL VISIT OF HIS EXCELLENCY WANG YI,
STATE COUNCILOR OF THE STATE COUNCIL AND
MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
TO MALAYSIA, 31 JULY – 1 AUGUST 2018
His Excellency Wang Yi, State Councilor of the State Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, will undertake an official visit to Malaysia from 31 July to 1 August 2018. This is the first official visit of His Excellency Wang Yi to Malaysia following his appointment as State Councilor of the State Council in March 2018. This will also be his third visit to Malaysia as Minister of Foreign Affairs apart from his visits to Malaysia in August 2013 and in August 2015.
On 31 July 2018, His Excellency Wang Yi is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, at Wisma Putra. Both leaders are expected to discuss bilateral issues including the upcoming official visit of YAB Prime Minister to China in August. Both leaders will also exchange views on various regional and global issues. Both leaders will also deliver press statement following their bilateral meeting.
On 1 August 2018, His Excellency Wang Yi will pay a courtesy call on YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia at Perdana Putra, Putrajaya.
This visit reflects the importance both governments attach to its relations with each other. Malaysia recognizes that China has always been a close friend and an important partner of Malaysia. Malaysia stands ready to work with China to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership adopted by both countries in 2013.
