OFFICIAL VISIT OF YAB PRIME MINISTER DATO’ SERI ANWAR IBRAHIM

TO THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

27 JUNE 2025

Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will undertake an official visit to the Republic of Indonesia on 27 June 2025. This visit is part of the ongoing commitment of both nations to further deepen their close and longstanding bilateral relations, at the highest level of leadership.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan; Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Senator Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz; Minister of Higher Education Senator Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry bin Abdul Kadir; Minister of Communications Datuk Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil; and Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Johari bin Abdul Ghani.

The visit also serves as a reciprocal gesture following the visits by His Excellency President Prabowo Subianto to Malaysia earlier this year for bilateral engagements and to participate at the 46th ASEAN Summit, 2nd ASEAN-GCC Summit and ASEAN-GCC-China Summit on 26 and 27 May 2025.

During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold a restricted meeting with His Excellency President Prabowo Subianto. Both leaders are expected to review key bilateral issues, follow up on the outcomes of the 46th ASEAN Summit, 2nd ASEAN-GCC Summit and ASEAN-GCC-China Summit as well as exchange views on regional developments and global issues of mutual concern.

This visit is also part of the preparations for the 13th Annual Consultation between Malaysia and Indonesia, scheduled to take place later this year.

In 2024, Indonesia was Malaysia’s sixth-largest trading partner globally and the second-largest among ASEAN Member States. Compared to RM111.21 billion (USD24.39 billion) in 2023, bilateral trade increased by 4.5 percent to RM116.29 billion (USD25.5 billion) in 2024. As close neighbours with deep historical ties and as founding members of ASEAN, this official visit underscores the shared commitment of Malaysia and Indonesia to strengthen bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations and the broader ASEAN community.
