Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal Yassine Fall will undertake an official visit to Malaysia from 11 to 12 August 2025. The visit is to reciprocate the official visit by Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan to Senegal in May 2024.
Foreign Minister Yassine Fall is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and then on the Foreign Minister, who will also host a luncheon in her honour. The two Foreign Ministers are expected to take stock of progress on bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on enhancing collaboration in key areas such as trade and economy, education, health, the halal industry, and capacity building. Both Foreign Ministers are also expected to discuss and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, including developments in the Middle East and West Africa.
In the course of her visit, Foreign Minister Yassine Fall is also scheduled to meet with Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Johari bin Abdul Ghani; and the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.
Malaysia and Senegal established diplomatic relations in 1986 and have since maintained cordial and constructive ties through cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral platforms. The visit by Foreign Minister Yassine Fall is anticipated to further reinforce this enduring and growing partnership.
In 2024, Malaysia’s total trade with Senegal reached RM1.37 billion, with Malaysia's exports to Senegal valued at RM1.35 billion and imports at RM14.1 million. From January to June 2025, total trade was recorded at RM789.20 million with Malaysia’s exports to Senegal valued at RM781.92 million and imports at RM7.28 million.
