25 OCTOBER 2025

His Excellency Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand will undertake an official visit to Malaysia on 25 October 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This is Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s first visit to Malaysia since assuming office in September 2025.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will be accorded an official welcoming ceremony at Perdana Putra Complex, Putrajaya, to be followed by a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

During the bilateral meeting, both Prime Ministers are expected to take stock of bilateral relations and explore potentials for further collaboration between the two close neighbouring countries, as well as exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Upon the conclusion of the Official Visit, His Excellency Anutin Charnvirakul will participate in the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, scheduled to take place from 26 to 28 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Summit –hosted by Malaysia under its ASEAN Chairmanship for 2025 – will convene leaders of ASEAN Member States alongside key external partners to advance regional cooperation, inclusivity and sustainability.

This visit is also part of the exchange of visits at the leaders’ level this year, following the working visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Bangkok, Thailand from 17-19 April 2025. This visit further reflects the warm and enduring friendship between the two nations as close neighbours and fellow Member States of ASEAN.

In 2024, Thailand was Malaysia’s seventh largest trading partner globally and the third largest among ASEAN Member States, with total trade amounting to RM114.56 billion (USD25.03 billion). From January to August 2025, bilateral trade between the two countries reached RM77.52 billion (USD17.88 billion), compared to RM76.95 billion (USD16.45 billion) during the corresponding period in 2024.
