MALAYSIA URGES RECONSIDERATION OF MEASURES AFFECTING PALESTINIAN

REPRESENTATION AT THE 80TH UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Malaysia is seriously concerned over the measures to prevent participation of Palestinian representatives at the upcoming 80th United Nations General Assembly session in New York.

Malaysia urges for the revocation of such measures in the interest of multilateral diplomacy, as well as effective and constructive participation of all United Nations Members and Observers, in line with the Host Country Agreement, the United Nations Charter and its relevant resolutions.

Palestinians are guaranteed their inalienable right to self-determination under international law, including the United Nations Charter, and this is reaffirmed through numerous United Nations resolutions. This fundamental right must be protected, as well as their right to seek justice under the relevant international mechanisms.

Malaysia reiterates its firm and unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their struggle for independence and statehood. Malaysia urges the international community to uphold the universal principles of justice, equality and dignity, towards the realisation of peace, freedom, and a sovereign State of Palestine.
