16 MALAYSIANS INVOLVED IN JOB SCAM SYNDICATES IN MYANMAR ARRIVE AT BORDER 

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassies of Malaysia in Yangon and Bangkok, had repatriated the fourth group comprising 16 Malaysians who were involved in job scam syndicates in Myawaddy, Myanmar. They arrived at the ICQS Complex in Bukit Kayu Hitam on 30 April 2025 at 4.30pm, and were surrendered to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further investigations.

Similar repatriation efforts were previously conducted on 24 February 2025 involving 15 Malaysians, 12 March 2025 involving 25 Malaysians, and 26 March 2025 involving 24 Malaysians. To date, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has successfully repatriated 80 Malaysians, including the 16 individuals who arrived today.

These operations were carried out through close inter-agency collaboration involving the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Immigration Department of Malaysia, and the Consulate-General of Malaysia in Songkhla.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its sincere appreciation to the Government of Thailand and the authorities in Myanmar for their continued cooperation in facilitating and expediting the repatriation process.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of Malaysians abroad and continues to provide consular assistance through its diplomatic missions to those in need.
