The Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Fumio Kishida will undertake a Working Visit to Malaysia on 4-5 November 2023. This marks His Excellency Kishida’s first visit to Malaysia since his appointment as Japan's Prime Minister in October 2021. His Excellency Kishida will be accompanied by senior officials of the Government of Japan. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, YB Datuk Mohamad Alamin will be present to receive and send off His Excellency Kishida at Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
During the visit, His Excellency Kishida is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Both leaders are expected to review the progress of bilateral relations, particularly cooperation in trade and investment, education, defence, environment and energy security as well as information and communication. The two Prime Ministers are also expected to exchange views on various regional and international issues of common interest including the Palestine-Israel conflict. The meeting will be followed by a luncheon hosted by YAB Prime Minister in honour of His Excellency Kishida.
The leaders will also witness the exchange of the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Information and Communications between the Ministry of Communications and Digital of Malaysia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan.
The Working Visit is poised to further strengthen the already established good relations between the two countries. As Japan continues its vital role as ASEAN dialogue partner, this visit holds special significance as it coincides with the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation this year.
For eight successive years since 2015, Japan has been Malaysia’s fourth largest trading partner.
