WORKING VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF THE INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT OF THE
CENTRAL COMMITTEE, COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA (IDCPC) TO MALAYSIA

The Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) H.E. Liu Jianchao undertook a working visit to Malaysia from 28 to 29 March 2024. The visit is aimed at forging closer collaboration between Malaysia and China’s political parties as well as discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern.
During his visit, H.E. Liu Jianchao paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi; met with Minister of Transport Tuan Loke Siew Fook; and called on Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan.
During H.E. Liu’s meeting today with the Foreign Minister, they exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest, including trade and investment as well as people-to-people exchanges.
H.E. Liu will also pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim before concluding his visit.
This visit holds added significance as 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China, as well as 11 years since the elevation of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) in 2013.
For fifteen consecutive years, China has been Malaysia’s largest trading partner. In 2023, total trade between Malaysia and China was valued at RM450.84 billion (USD98.80 billion).
