WORKING VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND REGIONAL INTEGRATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA TO MALAYSIA 6-7 JUNE 2024
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey is on a two-day Working Visit to Malaysia from 6 to 7 June 2024. This is her first visit to Malaysia since her appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in January 2017.
Today, Minister Botchwey held a productive meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan. Discussions centred on her candidacy for the upcoming election as the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth in October 2024. Both Foreign Ministers also discussed Malaysia-Ghana bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Ghana was Malaysia’s ninth largest trading partner in Africa in 2023, with total trade amounting to RM2.08 billion and a trade surplus of RM15.45 million in favour of Malaysia. This growing trade trend underscores the potential economic ties and shared interests that enhance the bilateral relations.
