WORKING VISIT OF THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF MALAYSIA,
DATUK MOHAMAD BIN ALAMIN TO RIYADH, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA,
7-8 JUNE 2023
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, YB Datuk Mohamad Bin Alamin, will be representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition Against ISIS/Da’esh in Riyadh on 8 June 2023. He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra).
The Global Coalition against ISIS/Da’esh was formed in September 2014 in response to the global concern over Da’esh and the threat it poses to international peace and security. The tenth edition of the Ministerial Meeting will be co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al-Saud, and the United States Secretary of State, His Excellency Antony J. Blinken. It aims to strengthen the Coalition’s unequivocal commitment to counter Da’esh on all fronts, as well as to dismantle its networks and preventing the spread of its influence.
At the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister will underscore Malaysia’s commitment for close cooperation with other countries through capacity-building measures against terrorism through “the whole-of-government” and “whole-of-society approach”, which is fundamentally crucial in the efforts to counter the heinous and abhorrent acts of terrorism and violent extremism.
Malaysia’s participation at the said Ministerial Meeting reaffirms its commitment to play a proactive role at the various international and regional initiatives in this effort.
The Deputy Foreign Minister is also scheduled to meet other high-ranking officials to discuss on various bilateral matters between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
