WORKING VISIT OF HIS EXCELLENCY DR. VIVIAN BALAKRISHNAN, MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE TO MALAYSIA

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir will host his counterpart, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan in conjunction with his Working Visit to Malaysia from 15 to 18 January 2023. The visit is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen existing close ties between Malaysia and Singapore, and it will be the first Ministerial level visit to be received by YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir since assuming office as the Minister of Foreign Affairs on 2 December 2022.
During the visit, both Foreign Ministers are scheduled to meet and exchange views on broad ranging issues of common interest. His Excellency Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan is also scheduled to have an audience with His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the Yang diPertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah and meet with several Cabinet Ministers under the new Unity Government.
The visit by His Excellency Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan will provide an excellent opportunity for Malaysia and Singapore to further strengthen the longstanding relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
In 2022, Singapore was Malaysia's 2nd largest trading partner and the largest within ASEAN with total trade amounting to RM336.73 billion (USD76.40 billion), an increase of 30.8% percent, compared to the recorded value in 2021.
