UPDATE ON THE PASSENGER BUS ACCIDENT IN NORWAY INVOLVING MALAYSIAN
NATIONALS
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Stockholm, is pleased to confirm that the Embassy has successfully established contact with the two Malaysian nationals involved in the bus accident near Lake Åsvatnet, Norway, on 26 December 2024.
Both individuals sustained minor injuries, have been categorised as “non-injury” cases by Norwegian authorities, and remain in good health. They have since resumed their journey in Norway without further complications.
The Ministry would also like to clarify that initial reports indicating the involvement of four Malaysians in the accident were due to a misunderstanding, as two other Malaysian nationals were staying at the same hotel but were not part of the accident.
The Ministry, on behalf of the Government of Malaysia, expresses its deepest gratitude to the local authorities in Norway for their prompt and invaluable assistance to the Malaysian passengers involved. Their swift action and support are sincerely appreciated.
The safety and well-being of Malaysians abroad remain a top priority for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
