TYPHOON SHANSHAN MADE LANDFALL IN JAPAN
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, is closely monitoring the development of Typhoon Shanshan, where it made landfall in Kyushu Island in the morning of 29 August 2024. The typhoon is expected to move over Japan’s southwest before travelling northward and crossing into the central regions, including the Kanto Region (which includes Tokyo) in the coming days.
As of 4pm local time on 29 August 2024, no Malaysians have been reported to be involved or affected by the typhoon.
Malaysians in the affected areas are urged to stay vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance provided by the local authorities. Those who have not yet registered and updated their whereabouts and details are strongly encouraged to do so immediately at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my.
