THE ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION (OIC) EXTRAORDINARY OPEN-ENDED MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, JEDDAH, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA 7 AUGUST 2024
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan will lead Malaysia’s delegation to the Extraordinary Open-Ended Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee at the level of Foreign Ministers on 7 August 2024 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Extraordinary Meeting, called by the State of Palestine and the Islamic Republic of Iran, will address Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people; and its aggression against the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Gambia, Chairman of the 15th Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The Foreign Minister’s participation at this Extraordinary Meeting provides a significant opportunity for Malaysia to express its strong condemnation of Israel’s genocide and widespread destruction in the Gaza Strip and the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
The Foreign Minister’s participation at the Meeting signifies Malaysia’s commitment to the Palestinian cause and the efforts towards the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as the admission of Palestine into the United Nations as a full fledged Member State.
