The Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, His Excellency Wang Yi will undertake an Official Visit to Malaysia on 11 and 12 August 2023. This will be his sixth visit to Malaysia as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
During the visit, His Excellency Wang Yi is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim and have a bilateral meeting with his counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir.
His Excellency Wang Yi’s visit to Malaysia will provide an excellent opportunity for both sides to discuss and exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest. This visit will also further strengthen the strategic ties between the two countries, encompassing various areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.
This year is the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Malaysia and China. Notably, both countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties next year, signifying the long-standing friendship and robust cooperation in various sectors.
For more than a decade, China has been Malaysia’s largest trading partner. In 2022, the total trade between Malaysia and China was valued at RM487.13 billion (USD110.62 billion), an increase of 15.6 percent from 2021.
