THE ADOPTION OF THE UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION
ON THE SITUATION IN MYANMAR, 21 DECEMBER 2022
Malaysia welcomes the adoption by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the resolution on the Situation in Myanmar on 21 December 2022.
Malaysia had previously called on the UNSC to fulfil its charter-mandated responsibility. This Council resolution is significant in supporting ASEAN’s central role to find a peaceful solution to the situation in Myanmar. The Council also encourages the international community to support the ASEAN-led mechanism and process in this regard, including the implementation of the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus.
Malaysia will work closely within ASEAN and with our external partners to ensure progress in these efforts in the interests of the people of Myanmar.
