TAAL VOLCANO ERUPTION, THE PHILIPPINES
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring developments relating to the Taal Volcano eruption, 100km from Manila, the Philippines at 1:00 pm on 12 January 2020.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHILVOCS) has raised the alert status of Taal Volcano to Level 4 (hazardous eruption imminent). Residents in the affected areas have been evacuated, and all incoming and outgoing flights at the Manila Airports are suspended until further notice.
There have so far been no reports of any Malaysians affected by the volcanic eruption.
The Ministry wishes to advise all Malaysians in the affected areas to exercise vigilance and take necessary precaution, and follow instructions from the authorities. Malaysians requiring consular assistance may contact the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila as per contact information below:
