STATE VISIT OF HIS MAJESTY SULTAN AND YANG DI-PERTUAN OF
BRUNEI DARUSSALAM TO MALAYSIA IN CONJUNCTION WITH
THE 24TH ANNUAL LEADERS’ CONSULTATION BETWEEN
MALAYSIA AND BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, will undertake a State Visit to Malaysia from 2nd to 4th August 2023. The State Visit will also coincide with the 24th Malaysia-Brunei Darussalam Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC).
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah will be accompanied by Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam, Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials.
His Majesty Sultan will be received in a State Welcoming Ceremony at Istana Negara by His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah on 3rd August 2023. Subsequently, His Majesty Sultan will have an audience with His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, followed by a State Banquet in honour of His Majesty Sultan and the Bruneian delegation.
During this visit, His Majesty Sultan is also scheduled to attend the 24th ALC involving the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. As the highest bilateral mechanism between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, ALC will provide the opportunity for both leaders to review the progress of bilateral cooperation and discuss outstanding issues as well as exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Both leaders are also expected to witness the signing of several bilateral instruments.
This visit would further strengthen the longstanding ties and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, and partners in ASEAN. In 2022, Brunei Darussalam was Malaysia's 26th largest trading partner and the 6th largest within ASEAN with a total trade amounting to RM13.22 billion (USD2.98 billion), an increase of 68.4% compared to the recorded value in 2021.
