SHOOTING INCIDENT NEAR MOSQUE IN MUSCAT, OMAN
Malaysia joins the international community in expressing its condemnation of the shooting incident that took place in the vicinity of a mosque in the Wadi Al Kabir area of Muscat, Sultanate of Oman on 16 July 2024. The tragic incident reportedly resulted with nine (9) individuals killed, including a policeman and three (3) attackers, while 28 others were left injured.
Malaysia extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families of the victims involved in the incident, the people and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman.
We reiterate our stance in rejecting a criminal act and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations as well as call for the perpetrators of this heinous crime to be brought to justice.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia would like to confirm that no Malaysians were involved in the tragic incident.
