TYPHOON MANGKHUT IN THE PHILIPPINES
A super typhoon, internationally known as the Mangkhut typhoon, landed in several areas in the Philippines on 15 and 16 September 2018. The areas most affected by the typhoon are in the northern part of Luzon, Philippines.
Large-scale search and rescue effort including relief and humanitarian assistance are being undertaken by the Government of the Republic of the Philippines.
As the situation in the affected areas remains fragile, all Malaysians are therefore, advised to defer non-essential travel to the affected areas. Those who are visiting or live in the affected areas are advised to be cautious and follow instructions from local authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that thus far, no Malaysians have been reported injured as a result of the typhoon.
Malaysians who are present in the affected areas and requires consular assistance should contact either the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila or the Consulate General in Davao, Mindanao as per below:
