THE CASE OF MR PRABU N PATHMANATHAN IN THE

REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE

At 6.23 a.m. this morning, the execution of Mr Prabu N Pathmanthan was carried out at Changi Prison, Singapore, in the presence of family members.

A representative of the High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore was also present. The High Commission is in communication with the family of the late Mr Prabu N Pathmanathan on the arrangements for his remains.

On humanitarian grounds, the Government of Malaysia had made an appeal for leniency to the Government of Singapore. Nevertheless, the Government of Malaysia wishes to emphasize that it respects the rule of law and due process of the Republic of Singapore.
