OUTCOME OF THE WORKING VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS II OF BRUNEI DARUSSALAM TO MALAYSIA

Minister of Foreign Affairs II of Brunei Darussalam Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof has concluded his working visit to Malaysia from
10 to 12 July 2024, in conjunction with the Third Meeting of the Joint Malaysia-Brunei Darussalam Land Boundary Committee (LBC-3).
On 11 July 2024, Minister Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan co-chaired the LBC-3 Meeting with Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Sri Amran Mohamed Zin. Both sides acknowledged the positive progress and milestone achievements in border cooperation, following years of joint demarcation and survey work.
The visit highlighted the special relationship between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam and set the stage for the 25th Annual Leaders’ Consultation, scheduled for August 2024 in Bandar Seri Begawan.
On 11 July 2024, the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia hosted a dinner to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. Both Minister Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan were Guests of Honour.
During the dinner, both Foreign Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties for the mutual benefit of both countries.
In 2023, Brunei Darussalam was Malaysia’s 6th largest trading partner within ASEAN, with total trade amounting to USD2.04 billion (RM9.31 billion).
