OUTCOME OF THE WORKING VISIT OF THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF MALAYSIA TO THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES 3-5 JUNE 2024
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Mohamad Bin Haji Alamin concluded his Working Visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 5 June 2024. While in Abu Dhabi, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs co-chaired the inaugural meeting of the Malaysia-UAE Joint Committee for Cooperation (JCC) with his counterpart, the Minister of State of the UAE, H.E. Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh.
During the JCC, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in his opening remarks reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to enhance bilateral ties with the UAE. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also conveyed Malaysia’s interest in intensifying cooperation in new areas, such as critical and emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green hydrogen, space exploration, and supply chain.
Both sides stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, economy, renewable energy, air connectivity, people-to-people exchange, education, artificial intelligence, space programs, and health. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues including the situation in the Middle East, particularly on the Palestine-Israel conflict.
At the end of the JCC, both Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of State of the UAE signed an Agreed Minutes detailing the areas of strategic cooperation between both countries.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also took the opportunity to attend a session with representatives from the Malaysian business community. In line with Malaysia's MADANI Economic Vision, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his aspiration for Malaysians abroad to continue promoting the country to investors in the UAE.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also had an engagement session with the Malaysian diaspora in Abu Dhabi, where he conveyed the Government’s desire for the values of inclusivity, unity, and adherence to good values, be honoured by all Malaysians.
