OIC ALIGNED WITH MALAYSIA’S POSITION IN CONDEMNING ISRAEL’S CONTINUED
ATTACKS AND ATROCITIES AGAINST THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE AND THREATS
AGAINST THE SOVEREIGNTY OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN
OIC Member States are aligned with Malaysia's position in condemning Israel's continued attacks and atrocities against the Palestinian people, and Israel's aggression and threats against Iran's sovereignty.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan has affirmed Malaysia’s stance while attending the Extraordinary Open-Ended Meeting of the OIC Executive Committee at the level of Foreign Ministers on 7 August 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also urged OIC Member States not to be caught up in the attempts of certain parties, seeking to derail the peace negotiation process in Gaza.
He also proposed for the OIC to:
(i) establish a group of eminent persons to assist in mobilising appropriate follow-up action to implement the decisions of the International Court of Justice (ICJ);
(ii) urge the United Nations to reactivate the Special Committee to Address Apartheid;
(iii) take the lead, together with Like-minded States, in requesting for the resumption of the 10th Emergency Special Session on the Palestinian issue at the UN General Assembly to give effect to the ICJ’s Advisory Opinion; and
(iv) extend its support to help rebuild the Palestinian economy and livelihood, post-conflict.
Malaysia's participation in the meeting is part of the country's continuous efforts and commitment for the Palestinian cause at various international platforms.
