OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE PRIME MINISTER TO THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA

Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will undertake an official visit to the Republic of Kenya on 23 and 24 November 2025, at the invitation of President of the Republic of Kenya Dr. William Samoei Ruto,. This marks the Prime Minister’s first visit to Kenya since taking office in November 2022.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Senator Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz; Minister at the Prime Minister's Office (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa; senior government officials; and a delegation of business leaders.
Upon arrival in Nairobi on the evening of 23 November 2025, the Kenyan President will host an official banquet in honour of the Prime Minister and the Malaysian delegation.
An official welcoming ceremony is scheduled for 24 November 2025 at the State House, followed by a bilateral meeting between the Malaysian Prime Minister and the Kenyan President. Both leaders are expected to take stock of the state of Malaysia-Kenya relations, and explore avenues to further strengthen cooperation in various areas including trade and investment; palm oil and agri-commodities; agriculture; halal industry; education; semiconductor; digital transformation; tourism and culture; film and animation industry; and capacity building. They will also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Following the bilateral meeting, both leaders will witness the exchange of Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Tourism; Air Services Agreement; Collaboration Document between Kuala Lumpur City Council and Nairobi City County; and Memorandum of Understanding between National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) and Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI).
During the visit, the Prime Minister will officiate the Malaysia-Africa Higher Education Forum 2025 (MAHEF2025). MAHEF2025 will bring together higher education institutions from Malaysia and Kenya, as well as other African countries, aimed at strengthening collaboration in the field of higher education.
The Prime Minister will also attend the Malaysia-Kenya High-Level Business Forum and hold a one-on-one business meeting with Kenyan business leaders.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet with the leaders of the Kenyan Muslim community and have an engagement session in a lunch with the Malaysian diaspora in Nairobi.
Kenya is Malaysia’s primary export destination and top three trading partner in Africa for 2024. The value of bilateral trade between Malaysia and Kenya stood at RM5.7 billion, with exports from Malaysia to Kenya reaching RM5.52 billion, while imports at RM50 million. Malaysia’s export items to Kenya included palm oil and palm oil-based agricultural products, petroleum products as well as iron and steel products, while imports from Kenya included metalliferous ores and metal scrap, petroleum products and processed food.
2025 marks the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Kenya.
