OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA YAB DATO’ SERI ANWAR IBRAHIM TO THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA 22 – 24 MARCH 2023
The Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will undertake an Official Visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 22 to 24 March 2023, at the invitation of His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This will be YAB Prime Minister’s maiden visit to the Kingdom after being sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia. It reflects the special bond and long-standing relationship with the Kingdom and will provide an excellent opportunity for both sides to elevate bilateral relations and cooperation, guided by mutual interests in various areas.
YAB Prime Minister will be accompanied by YABhg. Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Dr. Wan Ismail. The delegation will comprise the Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, the Minister of Communications and Digital, YB Ahmad Fahmi Mohamed Fadzil, as well as senior government officials.
YAB Prime Minister is scheduled to have audiences with His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During the visit, YAB Prime Minister will also hold engagement sessions with the business communities, as well as Malaysian diaspora in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains Malaysia’s largest trading partner and the largest source of imports in the West Asian region. The total trade in 2022 was valued at RM45.52 billion (USD10.26 billion), an increase of 159.2 percent, compared to RM17.56 billion (USD 4.23 billion) in 2021.
