MALAYSIA WELCOMES THE EXTENSION OF THE HUMANITARIAN PAUSE
IN GAZA
Malaysia welcomes the 28 November 2023 extension of the humanitarian pause in Gaza. The extension will allow for the reunification of more released detainees with their families, as well as enable the flow of desperately needed humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering and hardship of almost 1.7 million Palestinians facing a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
Malaysia strongly supports the latest call by the United Nations Secretary-General for among others, a long-term ceasefire, unrestricted access for lifesaving aid, the protection of civilians, and an end to violations of international humanitarian law, as well as for the international community to be united in demanding for an end to the occupation and the blockade of Gaza. This is in line with Malaysia’s position.
Malaysia remains firm in its principled position that the Palestinians deserve their own independent and sovereign state, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its Capital.
