MALAYSIA TO CELEBRATE 58TH ASEAN DAY IN CYBERJAYA
As Chair of ASEAN for 2025, Malaysia will host the ASEAN Day Celebration in conjunction with the 58th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on 8 August 2025. The event will take place at the Cyber Event Hall, Cyberjaya, and is expected to bring together over 700 guests from across the ASEAN community.
The theme of the 58th ASEAN Day, Towards an Inclusive and Sustainable ASEAN Future, reflects and reinforces Malaysia’s Chairmanship theme of Inclusivity and Sustainability. This year’s celebration provides a timely opportunity to showcase ASEAN’s progress and unity, while highlighting Malaysia’s leadership in promoting a people-centred and forward-looking regional agenda.
Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will officiate the celebration, which will also feature opening remarks by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan. Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing are also expected to attend.
Guests will include the Chief Secretary to the Government, Head of the Public Service Department, Secretaries General, senior officials from ministries and agencies involved in ASEAN affairs, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from international organisations, think tanks, the private sector, academia and the media.
The ASEAN Day Celebration will feature cultural performances by the National Department of Culture and Arts (PERMATA Seni), including traditional folk dances and choir performances that reflect the cultural diversity of the region. ASEAN Member States will also showcase their traditional arts, handicrafts and merchandise through national exhibition booths.
The celebration symbolises ASEAN’s collective commitment to regional cooperation, solidarity and peace. It also affirms Malaysia’s commitment, as ASEAN Chair, to bring ASEAN closer to the people and to lead the region towards a more inclusive and sustainable future.
