MALAYSIA CONDEMNS THE ISRAELI REGIME’S INHUMANE ATTACK ON PALESTINIANS WHO WERE WAITING FOR AID IN GAZA
On 29 February 2024, more than 100 Palestinians lost their lives and approximately 700 others were wounded when Israeli troops opened fire on them. Malaysia condemns in the strongest terms the massacre of defenceless Palestinians, who were seeking much-needed life-saving aid at the Nabulsi roundabout in the Northern Gaza Strip. The cowardly action of Israel targeting Palestinians, including women and children, is not only illegal under international law, but also a blatant violation of the provisional measures handed down by the International Court of Justice on 26 January 2024 and the 1948 Genocide Convention.
Malaysia reiterates its call for an immediate permanent ceasefire, the killing of innocent lives, and ensuring unimpeded and safe delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need throughout Gaza.
The international community must demand Israel to stop atrocities and abide by its obligations under international law. In light of these grave circumstances, Malaysia urges the international community to conscientiously acknowledge and fulfil their humanitarian, ethical and legal responsibilities to prevent further loss of lives.
Malaysia remains steadfast in its principled position that the Palestinians unequivocally deserve the realisation of their own independent and sovereign state, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its Capital.
