MALAYSIA CONDEMNS THE BRUTAL ATTACK BY ISRAEL OCCUPATION FORCES
(IOF) ON KAMAL ADWAN HOSPITAL, NORTHERN GAZA
Malaysia is appalled by the brutal attack by the Israel Occupation Forces (IOF) targeting Kamal Adwan Hospital, where wounded Palestinians and the defenceless were seeking treatment and refuge. The attack against the health facility has become characteristic of genocide against the Palestinians.
The regime's siege on Gaza clearly constitutes war crimes under international law. It violates Palestinians' fundamental human rights, namely their right to life and right to self-determination. The forced displacement and dispossession of civilians, and deliberate attempts at making Gaza uninhabitable, must end.
The 1949 Geneva Conventions and customary international humanitarian laws necessitate the protection and respect for the personal dignity of all victims of conflict. This includes the respectful management of the remains of those who have perished. Furthermore, the surviving civilians in Gaza must be treated humanely and their right to return must be respected.
Malaysia urges the international community to exhaust all available avenues to prevent further loss of life and swiftly end the suffering of Palestinians. The Israeli regime must never be relieved of its obligations under international law. Israel must be held accountable for the crimes that it has perpetrated against Palestinians.
It is imperative that the international community collectively address this increasingly urgent humanitarian crisis, by ending the Israeli attacks on civilians in Gaza. Malaysia will not yield in its unequivocal conviction that continued attacks on civilians constitute war crimes, and that Israel must be held accountable for this and for its occupation of Palestinian territories.
