EARTHQUAKE IN CEBU, REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila, is closely monitoring the situation following a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Cebu Island, Republic of the Philippines. The earthquake occurred at 9.59pm local time on 30 September 2025, resulting in fatalities and the displacement of hundreds of families.
Malaysia extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the Government and people of the Philippines, especially the victims and families affected by this calamity. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently coordinating with the relevant agencies on the possible assistance that could be rendered to the Philippines.
Thus far, no Malaysians have been reported to be affected by the earthquake. The Embassy is actively coordinating with local authorities to obtain further information.
