BALLISTIC MISSILE LAUNCHES BY THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF KOREA (DPRK)
BALLISTIC MISSILE LAUNCHES
BY THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF KOREA (DPRK)
Malaysia condemns the recent ballistic missile launches by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), including the launch of a ballistic missile of intercontinental range on 18 February 2023.
Malaysia deeply regrets this incident which constitutes a grave threat to global peace and security. Such actions by the DPRK only serve to further increase regional tension and hinder the prospects for lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Malaysia strongly urges the DPRK to refrain from any further provocative and illegal acts, abide by its obligations under relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and its international commitments, and immediately cease its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.
It is also imperative for the parties concerned to resume dialogue to achieve the complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.
