APPOINTMENT OF NEW HEADS OF THE DIPLOMATIC MISSION OF
MALAYSIA
His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah had presented the Letters of Credence to ten (10) new Heads of Diplomatic Mission of Malaysia during a ceremony held at Istana Negara today. The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Datuk Mohamad Alamin and the Deputy Secretary General for Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dato’ Norman Muhamad. The newly appointed Heads of Diplomatic Mission are:
Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the United States of America
Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri graduated from Lincoln’s Inn in the United Kingdom and has vast experience serving in previous Malaysian Cabinets. Prior to this appointment, he held various positions including as Minister of Tourism and Culture, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Legal Affairs), Minister of Entrepreneur Development, Deputy Minister of Finance and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
Dato’ Syed Md Hasrin bin Tengku Hussin @ Syed Hussin
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Indonesia
Dato’ Syed Md Hasrin holds a Master’s degree in Public Management from the National University of Singapore and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations in New York since 2019.
He was the Ambassador of Malaysia to the United Arab Emirates (2017-2019) and Consul General of Malaysia in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (2008-2010). His other overseas assignments include Jakarta, Indonesia; and New York, United States of America.
He previously held the position of Undersecretary of Southeast Asia Division, Special Officer to Minister and Special Officer to Secretary General. He also held positions at the Southeast Asia and South Pacific Division, and Economic Division.
Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino bin Anthony
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Republic of the Philippines
Dato’ Abdul Malik graduated from the International Islamic University of Malaysia and joined the public service as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in 1996. Prior to this appointment, he was the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Italy since 2018, and concurrently accredited as Permanent Representative of Malaysia to Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
He had served at diplomatic missions of Malaysia in London, United Kingdom; and Abuja, Nigeria. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served as Special Officer to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Special Officer to the Secretary General and also served at the Southeast Asia Division.
Ambassador Hendy Assan
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Holy See
Ambassador Hendy is a Universiti Malaya graduate who joined the public service in 1995. Prior to this appointment, he was the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Uzbekistan since 2018.
He previously served as Consul General of Malaysia in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China (2010-2014), and had assignments at diplomatic missions of Malaysia in Tokyo, Japan; Rome, Italy; and Dakar, Senegal.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was appointed as Undersecretary of East Asia Division and Undersecretary of International Cooperation and Development Division. He also had roles at CLMV and Oceania Division, Americas Division and ASEAN Division.
Ms. Hafizah binti Abdullah
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Sweden
Ms. Hafizah holds a Master’s degree in Political Science (International Relations) from the International Islamic University of Malaysia and joined the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1996. Prior to this appointment, she was Undersecretary of International Cooperation and Development Division since 2022.
Before this, she served as Consul General at the Consulate General of Malaysia in Perth, Australia (2012-2016) and had an assignment at the Embassy of Malaysia in Madrid, Spain. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she served as Director at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations, Deputy Director General at ASEAN-Malaysia National Secretariat and Head of Innovation Value Unit. She also held roles at Human Resource Management Division, Consular Division and Americas Division.
Ambassador Gloria Corina Peter Tiwet
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Federative Republic of Brazil
Ambassador Gloria Corina holds a Master of Science in Global Security from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom and joined the civil service as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in 1996. Before this appointment, she was High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria since 2018. She also served at other diplomatic missions of Malaysia in Stockholm, Sweden; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Santiago, Chile.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she used to serve as Director of Sarawak Regional Office and Director of ASEAN 2015 Logistics Main Secretariat. In addition, she assumed several roles at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Development Division, Multilateral Economic and Environmental Division, and Information Division.
Mr. Ruzaimi bin Mohamad
High Commissioner-designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Kenya
Mr. Ruzaimi graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia and began his career in the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 2000. Prior to this, he was a Director at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations since 2019. He also served at other diplomatic missions of Malaysia in Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Yangon, Myanmar; Kiev, Ukraine; and Suva, Fiji.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he used to serve as Undersecretary of Multilateral Economic and Environmental Division and had assignments in the Department of Policy Planning and Strategy, and Administration Division.
Ms. Suzilah binti Mohd Sidek
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Czech Republic
Ms. Suzilah holds a Master’s degree in Strategy and Diplomacy from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She joined the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 2001. Prior to this appointment, she was Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok, Thailand and served as Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Bangkok.
Her other diplomatic assignments were at Malaysian missions in Ottawa, Canada; and Vienna, Austria. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she was appointed as Deputy Director General of ASEAN Political-Security Community Division, ASEAN-Malaysia National Secretariat, and had roles at the Regional Cooperation, Social and Cultural Development Division; Research, Treaty and International Law Division; and Southeast Asia and South Pacific Division.
Mr. Amarjit Singh Sarjit Singh
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste
Mr. Amarjit Singh graduated from the University of London in the United Kingdom and joined the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 2001. Before this appointment, he served as Undersecretary of Africa Division since 2020.
His previous overseas assignments were in Harare, Zimbabwe; Astana, Kazakhstan; and Hanoi, Vietnam. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served as Undersecretary of Americas Division and assumed responsibilities at Africa and South Sahara Division, and Multilateral Economic and Environmental Division.
Mr. ‘Alauddin bin Mohd Nor
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the State of Kuwait
Mr. ‘Alauddin holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from Universiti Putra Malaysia and began his service as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in 2002. Prior to this appointment, he was Consul General of Malaysia in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia since 2019.
He also served at other diplomatic missions of Malaysia in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Tashkent, Uzbekistan. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he used to serve as Undersecretary of West Asia Division, and held roles at Inspectorate Division, ASEAN Division and Human Resource Management Division.
