24 MALAYSIANS INVOLVED IN JOB SCAM SYNDICATES IN MYANMAR ARRIVE AT BORDER
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassies of Malaysia in Yangon and Bangkok, has successfully facilitated the repatriation of 24 Malaysian nationals who were involved in job scam syndicates in Myawaddy, Myanmar. All individuals safely arrived at the ICQS Complex in Bukit Kayu Hitam on 26 March 2025 at 5.55pm, and were handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further investigations.
This operation marks the third group of Malaysians repatriated following the crackdown on online scam syndicates in Myawaddy, Kayin State, Myanmar. Similar repatriation efforts were previously conducted on 24 February 2025, involving 15 Malaysians and on 12 March 2025, involving 25 Malaysians. These operations were carried out through close inter-agency collaboration involving the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Immigration Department of Malaysia, the Department of Social Welfare, and the Consulate-General of Malaysia in Songkhla.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its sincere appreciation to the Government of Thailand and the authorities in Myanmar for their continued cooperation in facilitating and expediting the repatriation process.
